The company SBI Connectors and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia have launched a research center equipped with the latest technology of analysis, testing and testing in the field of electrical energy. The project is the result of the collaboration between the company and the research group of Electronic Drives and Industrial Applications of the University (MCIA), a collaboration of more than 7 years that began with the recruitment of a Industrial Doctorate

The AMBER laboratory, installed in the spaces of the Polytechnic Institute of the Terrassa Campus (IPCT), becomes a unique research center in Europe in the energy sector and wants to become a pole of technological development. It is made up of teaching and research staff of the UPC and R & D technicians of SBI Connectors. It is open to the scientific community and, at the same time, it puts at the disposal of the industry an advanced laboratory for the transfer of knowledge. In this sense, the researchers and research groups of the UPC can work in these facilities, carry out the tests that require their scientific projects and generate new knowledge with the development of doctoral theses.

The latest generation equipment with which AMBER counts will allow testing of very high voltage, high current, temperature, aging and corrosion, with a capacity superior to that which have some European facilities of this type Likewise, the new center will develop R & D projects related to energy and climate change for the production of clean energy and for energy efficiency, with special emphasis on the transport of electrical energy and sustainable mobility AMBER will be able to assume the challenge of entering a market that moves annually 80,000 million euros, with growth expected in the next 15 years of 25%.
