The Technological Center of Integral Management of Organic Waste and the company Mannol Lubricantes, of Viladecans, collaborate in the reuse of purines for the manufacture of lubricants of organic base. An anaerobic digestion process allows different materials to be obtained from biodegradable organic waste. The best known is biogas, but other materials with market value can also be obtained, such as ammonia, phosphorus, fats and oils, fibers, sugars and proteins. Biodegradable waste has an energy potential that is not used at this time, nor half, between livestock manure, municipal waste, sewage sludge and other waste.

The Center for Integrated Organic Waste Management is an organization linked to IRTA and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. It offers specialized training in waste management and treatment, as well as advice, research and evaluation of organic waste as an agronomic and energy resource.
