Both institutions signed on February 26 two agreements for the creation of a Research Laboratory in Drones (DroneLab) and the collaboration in various projects that promote a knowledge-based city model
The mayor of Castelldefels, Maria Miranda (PSC), accompanied by the Councilor for Universities, Antoni Casas (ERC), and the rector of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), Francesc Torres, signed on February 26 two agreements of collaboration for the joint development of several projects whose purpose is to promote the scientific and technological vocations among the citizens and deepen in a city project where knowledge becomes one of its fundamental pillars.

“The signing of the two agreements with the UPC is a new step forward for Castelldefels. It is positive that the City Council and the University establish work ties, betting on the new technologies so that Castelldefels grows on the path of progress, “said the mayor of Castelldefels, Maria Miranda (PSC). “We want to make Castelldefels the city of innovation and knowledge. The DroneLab will be a symbol of our commitment to development and innovation. Without going any further, the drone is already present in our city, from the beginning of the year, as a work tool for the Local Police. If we want to continue growing, new technologies must be opened “.

“These two actions are in line with placing Castelldefels at the forefront of knowledge cities with the commitment to foster business growth and promote entrepreneurship and because the city’s economic reactivation is geared towards innovation,” he explained Councilor of Universities, Antoni Casas (ERC).
